Brathay 10in10 Athlete
I’m a Yorkshire lad, born and bred – other than a few years living in the North East, I’ve lived in and around the Huddersfield area for my whole life. I now live out in the sticks with my wife, two daughters (Matilda and Sophie) and Dora the cat. I have worked for a US tech company for the past 9+ years, which has given me some fantastic opportunities to visit (and run in!) some great places around the world.
I was first made aware of the Brathay 10in10 by my friend (who also happens to be taking part in the 2024 event, as luck would have it); it didn’t take a lot of convincing to apply when he suggested it! I was really looking for a challenge to take myself to the next level of endurance running, and once I researched the 10in10 more, I realised it offered me exactly what I wanted – whilst giving me the chance to raise funds for a very worthwhile cause.
Having run my ‘only’ marathon at London in 2007 (and not running in earnest for 6 years after), I’ve gone on to complete many more marathons and ultras – at ten in the last three years, including Boston, London and Manchester marathons, as well as several local events; I also managed to complete 103 miles at the Endure 24 event in 2022.
I’m hugely motivated to add the 10in10 to this list – not just because I know it will be life changing in so many ways, but because it gives me chance to raise funds to change other lives too. I’m in awe of the amazing work that Brathay does every day – providing support and self-development opportunities to young people that might not otherwise have access to these services.
