Kirsty Holland

Brathay 10in10 Athlete

I’m Kirsty Holland from Blackpool, and running has become a way of challenging myself, building resilience and discovering what I’m capable of. Every time I set myself a new goal, I learn something new, and that’s one of the reasons I’m so excited to be taking on the Brathay 10in10.

When I found out I’d been selected, I knew this would be my biggest challenge yet. Running ten marathons in ten consecutive days is something I’ve never experienced before. I’ve completed ultramarathons, but a multi-day event is completely outside my comfort zone. I know it will test me physically, mentally and emotionally, and that’s exactly what draws me to it. I want to push beyond what I think my limits are while taking on a challenge that will make a real difference to others.

Over the past few years I’ve steadily built up my endurance, progressing from shorter races to longer trail events. From the Ullswater way to completing 60 miles at endure 24 in 14 moving hours. It taught me that success isn’t just about speed—it’s about determination, adapting when things don’t go to plan and continuing to move forward when it gets tough. Those are lessons I’ll carry with me into the Brathay 10in10.

As exciting as the challenge itself is, the opportunity to raise money for Brathay’s work with young people is what gives every mile an even greater purpose.

Every young person deserves the chance to build confidence, develop resilience and believe in themselves, regardless of the challenges they face. If taking on ten marathons in ten days can help create opportunities that change lives, then every early morning training run, every aching muscle and every difficult mile will be worthwhile.

I’m looking forward to sharing the journey over the coming months—the training, the setbacks, the successes and everything in between. I hope to inspire others to step outside their own comfort zones while raising as much as possible for Brathay’s life-changing work with young people. Every donation and every message of support will help carry me through this incredible challenge, and I can’t wait to get to the start line in May 2027.
