Louise Draycott
Brathay 10in10 Athlete

Hi, I’m Lou and I live in Pembrokeshire. Running has been a major part of my life for over 30 years and is one of my greatest loves. I introduced my husband to running (yes, he actually loves it) and we’ve enjoyed many adventures together, including running from Sorento to Amalfi last year. In fact, we’ve started to plan our overseas holidays around marathons.
I feel very fortunate to be able to run, especially marathons and ultra-marathons, and I never take this privilege for granted. Running for me is like therapy and the longer the distance the better. I’m a Pembrokeshire Harrier leader and I’m passionate about encouraging others to take up running. I’ve raised sponsorship for various charities over the years, but mainly mental health charities such as Mind and Papyrus, which help prevent suicide in young people, having lost my own son to suicide in 2022.
Brathay Trust helps inspire, empower and encourage young people to believe in themselves and their abilities. So many young people struggle with self-confidence and low self-esteem. The programmes that Brathay offers help young people build their self-belief and self-worth.
This is why the charity resonates with me. I feel honoured to be a part of the 10in10 team in 2027.
