Brathay 10in10 Athlete

Completing the Brathay 10in10 in 2024 was the greatest physical and mental challenge I’ve ever taken on and I knew almost immediately that one day I’d be back.

Since then, I’ve fractured my ankle twice. There were moments when I genuinely wondered whether I’d ever be able to run properly again, let alone take on 10 marathons in 10 consecutive days. That’s why returning to Brathay isn’t just another challenge, it’s my comeback.

Completing the event in 2024 gave me a level of confidence and self-belief I never thought possible. It showed me that the limits we place on ourselves are often far greater than the limits of our bodies.

From the very first marathon, the support from the Brathay community was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. The attention to detail, the volunteers, the encouragement and the atmosphere are what make this, in my opinion, the greatest multi-day marathon event in the World.

Then there was the Class of ’24.

Nineteen individuals arrived as strangers, but over ten unforgettable days we became one team and left with friendships that will last a lifetime. The camaraderie, the humour and the unwavering support for one another made the experience truly unforgettable.

Yes, it’s the same course every day, but every marathon has its own story. The children from Hawkshead Primary School cheering us on, former runners returning to support the next generation, and the people of Windermere shouting your name when you need it most. Those moments lift you through the darkest patches when the physical pain and mental fatigue begin to take over.

Having once been a beneficiary of youth services myself, continuing this journey with the Brathay family was an easy decision. I want to play my part in helping remove barriers for children and young people from less advantaged backgrounds, giving them opportunities to realise their potential.

If you’re able to support me, please consider making a donation. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, helps Brathay continue changing young lives.
