Entries will close at 11:00am on Wednesday 15 May 2024.
We are unable to offer refunds or deferrals in case of cancellation but you may transfer your entry to another Brathay Challenges event in the same year. Please contact us to if you wish to transfer to another event.
We will send out a final instructions email on Wednesday 15th May which will include the information you need to register.
You will need to collect your number and timing chip from race registration before the event at Brathay Hall which will be open at the following times:
Friday 17th May: 10.00 – 21.00
Saturday 18th May: 08.00 – 10.45
You are encouraged to register on the Friday to avoid congestion on the Saturday.
ASICS Windermere Marathon race T-shirts will be available to buy at the event and are not included in the entry fee.
Car parking is available at the event centre. It is £7 if pre-booked or £10 on the day. If you have pre-booked, a car parking pass it will be emailed to you before the event. This will need to be presented to the marshals on the day.
You will be allowed to park your car on site from 8am.
You will be unable to leave the car park until around 11.30am. Spectators may prefer to park in Ambleside and enjoy the 15 minute walk to the Brathay Estate. You will not be able to follow the runners as the road will be closed behind them.
No – drop off will not be possible due to not being able to leave site until after 11.30am.
Please assemble on the lawn in front of Brathay Hall by 10.40am. Final announcements will be made before runners are led to the start line for the race start.
The event will start at 11am.
Yes, there will be changing facilities but no showers. Bags can be stored in the changing rooms and these will be locked during the race until the first runners return. Valuables can be left at the event reception.

The time limit for completion of the course is 6hrs 30mins. Runners must be at the mid-way cut-off point (Newby Bridge) before 3hrs 15mins.
Yes – the sweep vehicle will follow at 15 minute mile pace (6hrs 30mins total time).
There are 7 refreshment stations on the course at approximately 3 mile intervals. There will be water and VOOM Hydrate at every refreshment station.
There are several public toilets on the course. Please be aware that there is a charge – most require a contactless card for payment.
The wearing of headphones (in-ear or over), or similar devices, (other than those medically prescribed), is not permitted. Runners can run with bone conducting headphones.
Unfortunately you can’t run with a dog. Well behaved dogs are allowed on site for the ASICS Windermere Marathon provided they are kept on a lead and any mess is cleared up.
