Sonja Farish

Brathay 262 Athlete

Hi, my name is Sonja and my friends call me Sonic. This will be my 2nd 262 challenge as I rode the pilot event, although I didn’t finish within the 24 hrs, I completed the 262mile and I am even more determined to get under 24hrs this time.

I have been riding on and off for quite a few years. I have cycled coast to coast a few times and cycled Lands End to john o groats too. I work in the local leisure centre for Life Leisure where I teach swimming lessons, and I am a fitness instructor, Duty Manager, Lifeguard Trainer Assessor, Spin cycling instructor and Lifeguard.

This year my training is divided between, running, swimming and cycling as I will be taking on the ULTIMATE TRI starting with the 10 marathons in 10 days in May, followed by swimming 10 mile in Windermere and finishing this mega challenge with the 262 cycle challenge.

My most memorable cycling achievement was cycling Lands End to John ‘o’ groats over 10 days for Alices Escapes. This experience gave me the strength of mind and determination to complete my first 10 in 10.

I’ve raised about £50,000 for charity over the years and as I am going to be 50 in January 2020 my Half Century Goal is to raise as much money as I can for Brathay to support young people.

Spending time at Brathay I realised just how much work they do to help disadvantaged children and youths so I’m taking on this huge challenge to fundraise to help their great work. THIS GIRL CAN !!!

Goal: £5,000
