Diane Morris

Brathay 10in10 Athlete

I’m Diane Morris, 52 years old and happily married for 30 years. I have 6 children as well as 3 grandchildren and work as a Night Carer in a residential home for the elderly.

I started running 9 years ago, mostly on my own or with a couple of friends.  I entered the Great Eastern Half Marathon with a group of mums fundraising for our local playgroup in 2009. In 2010, I completed my first marathon in Nottingham and from then on, I’ve been completed hooked onto the running bug.

I love the freedom and personal sense of achievement that comes from running, particularly when completing different races and progressing onto longer distances. Up until last year, I ran 1 or 2 marathons every year, including my first ultra-marathon in 2014. In 2017, I joined Halmer Harriers, my local running club, and with their support, I had totalled 11 marathons and 4 ultra-marathons.

In 2018, I was selected for the Brathay 10in10 and training transformed my running journey. I started running multi day events and completed 28 marathons in just 6 months. I’m now aiming for 52 marathons in 52 weeks, including 2 ultra-marathons. Without a doubt, the 2018 Brathay 10in10 was the highlight of my year. On the final day, I was joined by fellow members of the Halmer Harriers running the Windermere Marathon, making it a truly special end to my first 10in10. I knew fairly quickly after that day that I’d be applying for 2019 - wish me luck!
