Brathay 10in10 Athlete
My name is Vicki Hulme, 42 years old and I work for a private company as a care practitioner within the community. I’m a member of the Cleobury Mortimer running club as well as the 100 Marathon Club - a very proud personal achievement!
I first discovered the 100 club when running my first marathon in June 2014. I met some of the 100 club runners, and soon to be friends, there and knew straight away that I wanted to be part of this club. My journey of marathons has taken me all over the place, nationally and abroad but it’s all been worth it. I ran my 100th marathon in June 2018, four years after my first, and the first out of the Cleobury Mortimer to reach such an accolade. To date, I have run 101 marathons/ultras.
As my journey to the 100 Marathon Club has been inspired and supported by fellow runners, so does my decision to run the 2019 Brathay 10in10. After running my 99th marathon at Windermere, I stopped to cheer some of the 10in10 runners on day 9 and felt emotional: inspired by their drive and determination and proud to be able to know these runners as friends. Malc Collins shouted across to me as he ran by: “This could be you next year!” After reading Davey Green’s book on his experiences running past 10in10’s, I knew this could be my next challenge.
I am fairly new to the world of fundraising and have previously raised around £800. Raising £3000 as part of my 10in10 journey is daunting but I’m ready for this new challenge. I’m excited to continue in the footsteps of previous 10in10 runners who have successfully raised money for the Brathay Trust. I’m equally inspired to be able to help transform young people’s lives as well as my own.
