Day 1 - 14 May
Brathay 10in10 2021
After only 7 months since the delayed 2020 event the Brathay 10in10 is back in its usual month of May. This is the 15th edition of the event, with 14 runners lining up on the start line.
Joss Naylor, Patron of the event, saw them off on a clear, cool morning - perfect conditions for running the stunning Windermere course.
Day 1 is always considered a warm up for the many miles to come and we saw steady, strong running from everyone. First across the finish line at Brathay Hall was Paul Mayson in 3:38:55 followed by Claire Harrison in 3:53:38 and Malcolm Collins in 3:54:36. This is Paul's third Brathay 10in10, Claire's second and Malc's eighth!!
Six of the team deferred their entries from 2020 for reasons linked to the pandemic - so it's been a 2 year wait to finally start their 10 consecutive laps of Windermere. Everything now looks set for a great weekend....and week...and second weekend of Lake District marathoin running.
The quote of the day goes to Michelle Woodward finishing in 5:09:57 with "It's like trying to hold back a Ferrari....don't run too fast!.....don't run too fast!".....good advice with 9 marathons still to run.
All the team are now refuelling, recharging and looking forward to another lap of Windermere tomorrow….
