Day 1 - 23 October
Brathay 10in10 2020
After the longest wait of any Brathay 10in10 team in the event’s 14 year history 11 runners arrived on the start line of Day 1.
Joss Naylor, Patron of the event, saw them off in typically damp, cool Lake District weather. Due to the COVID-19 postponement this is the first ever autumn 10in10 – so shorter days and cooler conditions, but stunning scenery when the sun shines!
Day 1 is always considered a warm up for the many miles to come and we saw steady, strong running for everyone. First across the finish line at Brathay Hall was Darren Jenness in 3:23:37 closely followed by Rachel Masser in 3:40:30.
Congratulations to Diane Morris, running her course PB at the start of her third 10in10. Also, special mention to Sonja Farish – starting the third leg of her Ultimate Tri. Sonja completed the Brathay 262 cycling event in July, swan the length of Windermere in September and now starts her fifth 10in10!
All the team are now refuelling, recharging and looking forward to another lap of Windermere tomorrow….
