Day 6 - 17 May
Brathay 10in10 2023
Another day of sunshine and fantastic views on Day 6 of the Brathay 10in10. Days 6, 7 and 8 are often the hardest for runners – over halfway….but still lots of hard miles to run! It's Paul Davies' 60th birthday - no better way to spend your birthday than running a lap of the Windermere Marathon course :)
157 miles of running over 6 days is now starting to show. The fantastic support provided by 2nd & 3rd year Sports Rehabilitation students from the University of Cumbria, supervised by Dr Katie Walker Small, is the key to getting to the start line each day with the best chance of running another marathon. As well as their excellent sports rehab skills, the students also provide an essential boost to everyone’s morale. A big THANK YOU to Katie and all the students.
Paul Davies continued his winning streak finishing in a consistent 3.37.36 - 2 minutes quicker that yesterday. To top it all, it was Paul's 100th marathon win! He was closely followed by Jon Drake in 3.50.58. It was a close race between first female, Tasmin Sharley (4.00.12) and Lee Wilkinson (4.00.17).
Impressive strong running by everyone....another one in the bag. Day 7 will bring the weekend onto the horizon.
