Day 7 - 29 October
Brathay 10in10 2020
Fortunately the storm force winds in the forecast didn’t materialize….however, the rain fell with continued vengeance! This was probably the toughest Day 7 in the event’s 14-year history.
Really determined running by the whole team to complete their lap of Windermere in fantastic form. Darren Jenness has now been running for more than 24 hours since starting the event a week ago. His winning time today was 3:29:33 – a sixth sub 3:30 out of the seven so far. Rachel Masser was again second with a strong run of 3:44:44.
Day 7 is often the most difficult marathon psychologically. Today, in heavy rain, after 6 days of the same, all runners needed to draw on deep reserves to complete their 183.4 miles over 7 days. The key at this stage is to keep positive and just focus on recovery for tomorrow…..and Saturday…..and Sunday!
You can donate to support the huge effort all runners are making to support vulnerable children & young people here. Thank you :)
