Lee Wilkinson

Brathay 10in10 Athlete

Hi, I'm Lee and I'm 44 years old, from Sandbach in Cheshire. Running has been a huge part of my life for many years and this will be my second time taking on the Brathay 10in10 - 10 marathons in 10 days around Windermere, raising funds to support the amazing work of Brathay trust.

Having completed the 10in10 in October 2020, the draw to go back and take on this event was something I couldn't resist. I had such an incredible experience last time, and even though it was during a global pandemic, it was an incredible journey and something I will never forget....so why not go back again!

Why the Brathay 10in10 again? 10 marathons in 10 days; 262 miles in 10 days; 10 days in the Lakes; all for an amazing cause. Firstly, I guess having such an incredible experience the first time I couldn't resist when the opportunity came around to enter again. As the dust settled after my first 10in10 and my mind, body, and legs came back to me, I could reflect on what an incredible journey it had been. There were certainly some tough days but with the help and support of my fellow runners, Scott and his team, and of course my family & friends, I truly now know what it feels like to be a part of the Brathay family. What we all achieved in such tough conditions, with the monsoon weather in October 2020 and all the COVID restrictions, was very special - all to raise funds for a charity that does incredible work for so many children and young people, they need us now more now than ever.

So why the HELL not, let's go again!

Running has always given my life a purpose and in my work as a Sports Therapist and Run Coach I get to treat and help so many runners from all backgrounds. I get to help other runners achieve their goals and I feel very fortunate to be in this position. I have an amazing, supportive girlfriend, family and friends, and a job I love.

If I can raise some money and help one child have a better life then it's worth every bit of pain I'm sure to go through.
