Chris Littlewood

Brathay 10in10 Athlete

I’m Chris, I’m originally from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire but now live in Sandbach, Cheshire with my wife, three teenage boys, two dogs, and four cats.I first completed the Brathay 10 in 10 in 2022 - 10 marathons in 10 consecutive days; it was the hardest thing I have ever done! The pain in my knees, the physical fatigue from all those hills, and the anxiety every night about having to complete another marathon the next day was indescribable! But, at the same time, it was the most amazing experience! Meeting incredible people who become friends for life, receiving support from the brilliant Brathay team, and being able to raise funds for such a worthwhile charity made it the absolute journey of a lifetime!

When I finished the 10th marathon in 2022, I felt so proud, in a way that I had never done before; I'd achieved what I set out to achieve and loved the experience! The last day was so emotional. Thankfully my wife was there on the finishing line and through teary eyes, I said to her, 'I'm done.' Two weeks later, when I asked her how she'd feel if I entered again she told me that she had been waiting for that question!

The only question in my mind was, why wouldn't I try to do it again? Brathay Trust supports disadvantaged children and young people and I can't think of a better charity to support by stretching myself to the absolute limit. I can't wait for the 2023 event! My plan is to just keep taking one more step...
