Jon Drake

Brathay 10in10 Athlete

I will be 50 years old when I attempt the Brathay 10in10 and wanted to try something outside my comfort zone for this milestone year!

I live in Kent with my Wife (Jo) and two teenage children, son Sammy and daughter Millie.

On my road toward membership of the 100 marathon club I saw many people doing different 10 in 10 events, but this was the only one that appealed to me and I have finally decided to bite the bullet and give it a go.

I will be closing in on 200 marathons by the time the Brathay 10in10 comes around and hope to hit 200 by the end of 2023. I have recently started focusing a little more on my marathon PB rather than the number of races per year and achieved a new PB in Boston (USA) this year of 2.58.33. Although I know this will not be easy, it will be nice to run without the pressure of a good finish time each day.

I have completed the 6 Abbott World Marathon Majors and hope to do so for the second time in Tokyo 2023.

The most consecutive marathons I have run is 4 in 4 at the Quadrathon in 2018 - so it will be interesting to see how I cope with 10 in 10.
