Martin Greensitt

Brathay 10in10 Athlete

Hi there, I’m Martin. I’m 44 years old and from the stunning North East coast of England.

Like the others, I’m certainly not an Olympic athlete. I work fulltime and get out to run whenever I have any spare time.

I started running 10 years ago, likely by doing parkrun, then progressing onto the Great North Run that year. But, I’ve always wanted to push myself that bit further, and so have gone on to do multiple marathons and ultras. These include the Hardmoors 55 four times, Endure 24 solo, Lakes in a Day (in the middle of a major storm!) and many others.

I have a real passion for travelling around the world to run, from Parkrun to the Abbotts World Majors – which by the time the Brathay 10in10 comes around I’ll have my 6-star medal.

One of my favourite marathons has to be Windermere, which I first did in 2017 and started the whole idea to do the Brathay 10in10 one day.

It’s a huge privilege to have been accepted into the class of 2023 and I can’t wait to take on the challenge. I know for certain it will be the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but I’m so determined to finish strong every day.

Having seen the amazing work Brathay Trust does, I can assure you that every £1 you donate will go to help disadvantaged children and young people. Your support is hugely appreciated.
