Route
Starting from Rothay Park, the Ambleside 25K is a 25km loop of scenic Lake District trails. From the park, participants will make their way up and over Loughrigg towards Skelwith Bridge, Little Langdale and from there towards Elterwater. Continuing onward, the route makes its way to Chapel Stile and Great Langdale and after a short but punchy climb contours around Silver How. Runners then descend to Grasmere and follow the lakeshore path and Loughrigg Terrace back to Ambleside.

The Ambleside 25K starts and finishes in Rothay Park, Ambleside. The park is overlooked by Todd Crag, giving participants a good view of the first ascent on the course.
The park sits betwen the River Rothay and the Ambleside Parish Centre and is easily accessible from Ambleside town centre.
Loughrigg Tarn

After the first climb over Todd Crag the course skirts around Loughrigg Tarn. Runners will be nicely warmed up and enjoying the stunning views across to the Langdale Pikes and Coniston Fells.
Colwith Force

Almost a third into the course the trail passes close to Colwith Force. A short detour of the route is rewarded by a beautiful waterfall hidden in the trees. It's now only a short run through the woods to refreshments at the first aid station.
Elterwater
After passing through Little Langdale runners arrive at Elterwater, 11km into the course. The traditional village of Elterwater is named after the small lake half a mile to the south and is also home to the Britannia Inn – a cosy spot for supporters. From the village, the route heads to Chapel Stile on the way to the second aid station in the Langdale valley.
Silver How

After leaving the second aid station, the route climbs steadily out of the Langdale valley to contour around the summit slopes of Silver How. The view across Grasmere to Rydal Water with the Fairfield fells as a backdrop will surely inspire runners to push on to the final 10 kilomotres.
Grasmere

You're very much on the finishing leg at this point! From here, runners run down the south-west side of Rydal Water before turning on to the Under Loughrigg road and back towards Rothay Park.
