The Ambleside 50KM starts and finishes in Rothay Park, Ambleside. The park is overlooked by Todd Crag, giving participants a good view of the first ascent on the course.
The park sits between the River Rothay and the Ambleside Parish Centre and is easily accessible from Ambleside town centre.
Loughrigg Tarn

After the first 3km with legs warmed up, runner will pass the secluded Loughrigg tarn underneath Loughrigg Fell. It's a beautiful spot and one of the favourites of our photographers.
Colwith Force
After passing through the picturesque village of Skelwith Bridge, runners will enter thick woodland to meet Colwith Force, a lovely waterfall and cascades which are impressive in wet weather.
Grizedale Forest

At 15km runner will enter into the beautiful Grizedale forest which lies to the east of Coniston Water and to the south of Hawkshead. A good trail will lead runners over steady hills past stunning tarns.
Blea Tarn

A fantastic spot familiar to regular Brathay event runners. With the right weather, Blea tarn can be a great spot to admire the scenery before dropping down into the Langdale Valley. If you're unlucky however, and don't get such nice weather, the tarn can feel quite exposed and further add to the challenge of the event.
Grasmere

Grasmere is the last major location that runners pass before arriving back at Ambleside. You're very much on the finishing leg at this point! From here, runners run down the south-west side of Rydal Water before turning on to the Under Loughrigg road and back towards Rothay Park.
