Before the event
When do entries close?
Entries will close on Wednesday 4 December 2019, or when entries reach the maximum number of 1,200, whichever comes first.
I have entered – what happens next?
You will receive email confirmation of your entry and further emails with useful information and training tips. Please also check this website regularly for further information.
When do I receive my race pack and timing chip?
You will receive your race pack shortly before the event. You will need to collect your timing chip and race number when you register in the event field at New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel before the race.
Can I transfer my race number to someone else?
As stated in our Terms and Conditions and as per UKAA rules and regulations, the right to participate in the event is highly individual and as such entries and race numbers are non-transferable. We may be able to defer entries in certain circumstances, please contact us with your request.
Can I cancel or defer my entry and get a refund?
If participants wish to cancel their entry they need to contact the Brathay Running team. We are unable to offer refunds or deferrals in case of cancellation. Please contact the Brathay Running team here.
During the event
Is there car parking?
Car parking is available in the Great Langdale valley close to the event centre. There are three car parks:1. Event field: £5 2. National Trust Pay & Display car park: £6 upto 4hrs; £7 all day 3. Lake District National Park Pay & Display car park: £6 upto 4hrs; £8 all day.
Are there changing facilities on race day?
There are no changing facilities available on the day.
Will there be bag storage at the event?
There will be unsupervised bag storage in a tent in the event field at New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel. The event organisers take no responsibility for bags left in the tent.
What time does the race start?
The race will start at 12.10pm.
Where is the course?
What is the course time limit?
The time limit for completion of the course is 1hrs 30mins. Runners must pass through Elterwater before 45mins.
Is there a sweep vehicle if I am injured?
There will be a sweep vehicle at the back of the race. The sweep vehicle will pick any runners who retire from the event and return them to the event centre.
Where are the refreshment stations and what will be available at them?
There will be a refreshment station just beyond Elterwater - 5.5k. There will be water in cups & mulled wine available. There will be litter bins positioned a short distance after the refreshment station for you to dispose of any water bottles and/or cups/wrappers. Please make use of these.

Can I run with a dog?
UKA Rule 240: "Runners must not be accompanied by a personally owned or controlled dog in the race. NOTE: Entries may be accepted from runners with medical assistance dogs, subject to them being correctly registered and identifiable as such; and subject to approval by the Race Director."
Can I run with headphones?
“The wearing of headphones, or similar devices, (other than those medically prescribed), is not permitted in races on any single carriageway road that is not wholly closed to trafﬁc.”This is a direct extract from UK Athletics’ Competition Rules 2018-20 edition. If any runner is seen failing to comply with this rule, regrettably we will have to disqualify. Runners can run with bone conducting headphones.
After the event
Can I get a shower after the race?
No facilities are available at the event centre.
Will there be an awards ceremony?
Prizes will be awarded to first man and first woman in the finish field during the event. An award for best festive costume will be awarded after an online vote after the event. All runners who complete the Christmas Pudding 10k will receive a.... Christmas Pudding!
