Ben Snell

London Marathon Runner

I’m Ben Snell, originally from Lancashire, now living in Cheshire with my wife and 4 kids. Running for me, is an escape from the chaos and pressures of daily life and from my ‘Work From Home’ dungeon. I work for a US company so make use of the time zone to enjoy relaxing morning runs. I run all distances but have a passion for pushing myself to the absolute limit and seeing how I cope – the marathon does the job!

My previous 9 marathons/ultras were amazing and provided learnings about myself and the technique to running a successful marathon. My next marathon will be my tenth, 10 years after my first. For that reason I want it to be special, ideally with a PB as close to 3 hours as possible, and what an amazing opportunity to do this at London 2023. To enhance the occasion, I wanted to run for charity and wanted to give something back to Brathay Trust. Brathay helped so many runners by hosting the 2021 Windermere Marathon during Covid restricted times, when all other events were cancelling. This gave a massive boost to the whole running community and despite the staggered start and heavy downpours early on, was a highly enjoyable event. I love the Lake District and spent much of my childhood here, so I want other kids to be able to enjoy this wonderful environment which shaped my life.

It will be an honour to run London Marathon for Brathay and I hope to raise way more than the 2k target.
