Danny Russell

London Marathon Runner

I started running back in 2017 when I realised my football career was well and truly over, and as I had been active for so many years, I needed to find something else to keep me fit and healthy. Running began to fill this gap, and as the years went on, I started to fall in love with running, not just for fitness but also for my mental health.

Nothing better than getting out in the open air, putting music to my ears, and getting my legs moving. I am very competitive, probably from my football days, and have taken this into my running with setting myself difficult targets, having competitions with other runners and entering difficult races. This has all made running an exciting and fun activity for me. Now I’m looking forward to my biggest running challenge yet - taking on the London Marathon 2023.

I'm inspired to raise funds for a fantastic charity - to help promote the great work they do to support disadvantaged children and young people.
