Paul Dewar

Golden Bond Runner

Hello all, I am Paul Dewar, married to a wonderful and very supportive lady called Trudi. I am very fortunate to live on the southern edge of The Lake District, indeed, I am only 20 or so miles from Brathay Hall.

I first stumbled upon the charity way back in 2011 when I was following the exploits of the nutters who were running the Brathay 10in10 that year, raising money for the Trust. I ran the Windermere Marathon that year and applied for the 10in10 for the following year and completed it in 2012. Since then both Trudi and I have raised money for Brathay Trust and have volunteered our services on a number of occasions helping with events.

Over those years I have met and chatted to many young people who have been helped by Brathay, coming from various backgrounds where they would have been forgotten about. Brathay has given them the confidence and skills to make changes in their lives, giving them positive outcomes and a bright future to look forward to. Why would anybody not want to help them out?

So, why London Marathon? To be perfectly honest, Trudi and I have had a quiet few years (as most people have!) and felt that running London would be a great way to raise some much-needed funds for a couple of our favourite charities. Also, I'm not getting any younger and would like to run London again before my legs don't want to!

Goal: £2,000
