A great day out on the fells, walking from Middle Row (Joss' birthplace) to Brathay Hall
Joss' next challenge over the Lake District fells will be to run and walk from Wasdale Head to Brathay Hall - 30 miles and 6,000ft of ascent. The day will culminate with a celebratory dinner where he will speak about this and his many other endurance challenges and records.
"You're very welcome to join me on the fells for all or part of the route (see planned schedule below). Or, you might want to support at one of the pubs I'll be passing (Eskdale, Seathwaite, Little Langdale and Elterwater)."

Route and planned schedule
Middle Row - Burnmoor Tarn - Woolpack Inn (Eskdale) - Penny Hill - Grassguards - Wallowbarow - Newfield Inn (Seathwaite) - Walna Scar - Coniston Coppermines - Tilberthwaite - Three Shires Inn (Little Langdale) - The Britannia Inn (Elterwater) - Loughrigg Tarn - Loughrigg - Brathay Hall....about 30 miles & 6,000 ft of climbing.
Middle Row is the farmhouse at Wasdale Head where Joss was born in 1936 and spent his childhood. Joss will set off at 8:00am and head for the climb up to Burnmoor Tarn before dropping down into Eskdale.
Woolpack Inn, Eskdale
Joss aims to arrive at the Woolpack at about 10:00am. 6 miles into the challenge he'll be nicely warmed up for the miles and climbs to come!
Newfield Inn, Seathwaite
The Newfield Inn at Seathwaite will be Joss' next refuelling point. He'll arrive at about midday, so this is the perfect place to support him while stopping for lunch in a traditional Lakeland pub.
Three Shires Inn, Little Langdale
When Joss arrives at the Three Shires he'll have almost run a marathon over the fells! This will be a great place to support Joss while enjoying the local hospitality.
The Britannia Inn, Elterwater
Joss aims to arrive at the Britannia Inn in Elterwater at about 4:30pm, but he's feeling fit and strong following a winter of training so might well be ahead of schedule.
The Britannia will be a great place to meet Joss and maybe join him for the final run over Loughrigg to Brathay.
Joss will finish his 30 miles fell challenge on the lawn at Brathay Hall - like the thousands he's supported as Patron of the Brathay 10in10 and ASICS Windermere Marathon.
Everyone is invited to welcome Joss back to Brathay (the bar will be open!). There are also a limited number of tickets available for a celebration dinner in the evening where Joss will speak about this and his many other endurance challenges and records.
Celebration Dinner with Joss
Each ticket includes:
- The opportunity meet Joss at a pre-dinner reception at Brathay Hall (where he'll be happy to sign books, pictures etc).
- Three course dinner with menu of locally sourced dishes.
- Wine on each table.
- The opportunity to take part in an auction of Joss memorabilia.
- Guests will be seated on tables of 8 to 10 people.
