The 34th Langdale marathon and half marathon

The Langdale Half Marathon was sold out this year with only a few places left in the full. Nearly 500 runners across the events turned up on the day to tackle the course and it was fantastic to see the familiar faces of those who come back every year.

The marathon was won by Alan Hilley who completed the course in 02:59:14 and Helen Knight (CLC Striders) who was first woman in 03:34:06.

The half marathon was won by Oscar Subuh-Symons of Dorking and Mole Valley with an impressive time of 01:17:16 and first woman was Theresa Oldroyd of Harrogate Harries in 01:42:23. Amazing efforts from everyone involved for such a tough course.

Race director Scott Umpleby said of the event,

“It was a fantastic day of running, we are so grateful to all the runners who make it possible to host these events and particularly to our regulars who keep coming back year after year. It’s such a special event. We would like to thank our amazing volunteers who kept the runners going and to our sponsors New Dungeon Ghyll, Voom Nutrition, Heart of the Lakes and Pete Bland Sports.”
