Race report: Ambleside 25K & 50K

The second Ambleside 25K & 50K took place on Sunday 17th September, in partnership with The Climbers Shop, with over 450 runners signed up across the events.

Conditions were warm and cloudy, with occasional drizzle, perfect for running on the trails.

The 50K was won by Karl Hodgson of Red Rose Road Runners in 05:01:26 and the first woman was Elizabeth Richardson in 05:39:45 (a new course record). Karl and Elizabeth both received stunning trophies made by local supporters Miles Moore Ceramics.

The 25k was won by Darren Coward in 02:14:04. First woman back and second overall in the 25K was Betty Bergstrand of Pudsey & Bramley AC in 02:14:49. Both set new course records.

Winners in all age categories received prizes donated by The Climbers Shop in Ambleside and all runners received a beer from sponsors Hawkshead Brewery to accompany their bottle-opener medal.

We would like thank everyone who attended the events and for supporting Brathay.
