Rocket Rod's Ramblings - well done to Windermere marathon runners

It's summer at last! Time is flying by in spite of the pandemic. Firstly, congratulations to all the gallant 10in10ers who had to battle through some horrible conditions, and to all marathon runners who had, in spite of missing much training, competed and completed the tough course.
I'm sorry to have missed so many friends along the course but I had just received the news that our great friend of over 40 years, Dr Ron Hill MBE, with whom I have competed in a good few marathons, had sadly passed away. We competed in marathons including Athens, Miami, London, Manchester plus (my greatest honour) 2 of The Great Langdale Half Marathon. As Ron told me later, they were two of his slowest times and also his last half marathon.
Dorothy and I will miss him so very much.
Now for some much more happy news - our lovely Granddaughter Olivia (who started many Great Langdale Events) married her fiancé Marius in the lovely setting of the Ashton Memorial in Williamson Park, Lancaster. I have never been so proud of our daughters Dawn, Joanne and Maria. Not to forget our Great Grandson Felix, who at 6 years old, decided to follow my speech with one of his own unscripted one and, of course, brought the house down!
I have booked a course of physiotherapy at my favourite clinic for treatment to get back on the road at last!
More rambling soon. Regards to all,
Rocket Rod, soon to be V85!
