#LetsRunForMatt #MilesForMatt #FinishForMatt...

It’s only five days since the tragic and untimely death of Matt Campbell whilst running the London Marathon to raise funds for our work with children and young people. Matt was an inspirational person - as a chef; runner; supporter of Brathay Trust and friend.
Matt gave so much to Brathay and the young people we work with. We are stunned and humbled by the outpouring of love and support in his memory, creating a lasting legacy which will allow us to reach many more young people. The total donated on JustGiving as I write is over £200,000. This comes from 17,000 supporters, numbers which are unprecedented for us.
Last night we saw over 500 of Matt’s family, friends, colleagues, fellow runners, Brathay staff and the broader local Cumbrian community run the last 3.7 miles of the ASICS Windermere Marathon. The event finished on the lawn in front of Brathay Hall on a balmy spring evening. The atmosphere was amazing and it was a moving and appropriate tribute to a life cut short too soon.
We know there are many groups and individuals who are planning events and activities that will both honour Matt and raise money for our work here at Brathay Trust. The profile this weekend seems to be all about running events with #MilesForMatt #FinishForMatt but there are lots more too. We want to wish you all well as you participate in supporting Matt’s amazing legacy. Huge thanks from all here at Brathay Trust for everything you are doing.
