Event date: Saturday 7 December 2019
Entries open for our popular Great Langdale Christmas Pudding 10K run this Friday 21 June; the first day of summer and the longest day of the year according to astronomical standards.
Last year the 30 year old event attracted 1,000 runners, nearly all wearing festive costumes, and all those crossing the finishing line received a Christmas pudding instead of a medal. It was our first experience of organising the event as a fundraiser and it’s become a popular way to start the festive season.
The route is the same as last year’s, starting and finishing at the New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel, and passing through Elterwater village and Bayesbrown Woods and Farm.
Mark Lamb of Keswick AC was the first back, with a time of 34:28, and Sarah McCormack of Ambleside AC was second overall and the first female back in 35:41.
The event raised £7,000 for Brathay’s work with young people. Each year we help 7,000 children and young adults in the north of England, including many in the Barrow and the Furness area.
