Records and rain for the Windermere running events

The ASICS Windermere Marathon was a welcome return to our largest fundraising event and a fantastic celebration of running. In typical Lake District fashion, the liquid sunshine came in full force but it didn't stop over 600 runners from racing across the events.

The first runner back in the marathon was Matthew Pierson from Stadium Runners with a time of 02:40:50. The women’s race was won by Lindy-Lee Folscher in 03:07:28, finishing 24th overall.
As they crossed what must be the best marathon finish line in the UK, runners received the fourth and final medal in our series, with many able to complete the set designed by local artist George Grange.

The first runner back in the 5K was Josh Brien in a time of 18:13 and the first woman over the finish line was Karen Nicholson in a time of 24:26 making her 11th overall.

Our Brathay 10in10 runners were inspirational, showing true determination to reach the finish line on 10 consecutive days. Adam Holland set a new record for the event, completing it in a total time of 29:02:47. He also set the lap record on his final marathon with a time of 02:45:45, and would have placed 4th in the ASICS Windermere Marathon!
Congratulations to all who took part in the events.
