Mac Knowles

Brathay 10in10 Support Team

I’ve been a member of Black Combe Runners in the South Lakes for most of my running career but am currently unattached to a club. I am a geography teacher who moved across to teaching in the outdoors when I realised there wasn't any marking to do and you could tell the same jokes every week and the children would not have heard them (but still groan or look nonplussed).

I came to running late but loved the freedom of the fells. Getting to the top of a couple of tops and back home all in an hour’s run.

I have run a few road marathons. My PB being 3 hours 17 mins which I am I am very proud of. Another achievement was winning an’old farts category’ in the O Mountain Marathon.

I have worked for Brathay for many years in holidays and at weekends as an occasional freelance trainer.

I have been a part of the 10in10 Support Team since 2009

I'm married to Aly and I do as I am told.
